Dr. Kalpana Gupta Shekhawat: The doctor who takes the cudgel to address healthcare needs of the 21st century
On the eve of International Women's Day here is a lady of substance- Dr Kalpana Gupta Shekhawat, an inspirational single mother in 50s, who has herself brought her mother back from Congestive Cardiac Failure. She was told her mother had severe cardiac muscle weakness and a slim chance of survival.
Dr Kalpana Gupta Shekhawat is the Medical Director at Freedom Diet Functional & Regenerative medicine clinic. Gurugram, that focuses on chronic lifestyle disease management with the help of nutrition correction, Nutraceuticals and Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
"My greatest achievement has been bringing my mother back from Congestive Cardiac Failure. In the year 2009, there came a paradigm shift in my lifestyle and my professional values. That year, my mother was diagnosed with Congestive Cardiac Failure. Quite ironically, my medical knowledge of this disease made the situation all the more distressing for me, because from a strictly medical standpoint I was convinced that her chances of overcoming this were slim. On the verge of despair and conceding, I felt an inexorable need to do something about it instead of just sit and feel pity for my family. I had to push my knowledge of modern medicine to its limits and make a solution if I couldn’t find one. I started reading extensively about what many called the ‘Future of Medicine.’ This effort finally paid off, when my mother started on the road to recovery with the help of Functional Medicine. I was awe-struck about the wonders of this new branch of medicine that could help save a million lives and potentially undo the harmful effects of decades of poor lifestyle. So this is where it all began, and since then every single day of my life has become a blessing and an instrument to help me make the world a better place," said Dr Kalpana.
She has since then never turned back and now boasts of 1000 patients for whom Functional Medicine proved a complete turnaround, which also includes her own mother and son.
Dr Shekhawat’s ‘How to live to a Hundred Plus’ recipe for anti ageing is a getting a lot of traction among patients who have despaired of allopathic treatment. She has the distinction of reversing metabolic disorders such as cardiovascular diseases, endocrinal diseases, autoimmune disorders, neurological disorders et al. She started her practice as a Functional Medicine practitioner for the last 8 years. Before this, for 10 years, she practised normal allopathy. After being disillusioned from the practice of mainstream medicine, she did a course of functional Medicine in US-based Clinical Nutrition Certification Board.
