Karan Johar’s much-discussed film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil did considerably well on the first day. On the second day also the film did steady progress and made a collection of INR 13. 10 Cr.  So far Ranbir Kapoor & Anushka Sharma-starer movie has collected  INR 26.40 Cr. after its two days of  release. The weekend collection of the  Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is expected to grow after Diwali as there are several holidays in next week.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh in the tweet shared the latest collections of the film at INR 26.40 Cr.
There is a good response  to the film from the critics and in the social media. Before the release of the  film, there was a strong buzz around ADHM.  The controversy surrounding starring of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in the movie kept the movie it in news and social media for over a month.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) gave an ultimatum to Pakistani artistes to quit India and threatened the Director of the movie with dire consequences if they release the movie with the Pakistani actor. The situation was brought under the control following the intervention of Maharashtra CM Fadnavis. MNS even demanded that the producers who cast Pakistani actors in their movies should pay INR 5 crores as a penalty to the army welfare fund.

Before that,  Karan Johar had even posted a video and he  tried to clarify his stand. Under the pressure of MNS,  he even assured that in future he would not cast any artistes outside the border. Besides that absence of Aishwarya Rai from film's promotions kept ADHM in news.

The film opened with around 35-50% occupancy throughout the country while in some part of the country film  had around 50% occupancy on the first day.

While Shivaay, which was supposed to give Ae Dil Hai Mushkil tough competition at the box office, is going on the average run. The film collected INR 10.24 on its opening day.  But the film did not get good  reviews  and second-day collection dropped to around INR 8 crore.
Besides that the ADHM has several star cast, whereas  Ajay Devgn is only sole attraction of the film Shivaay. Ajay's film has been making revenue in north India only.
