Ae Dil Hai Mushkil : Raj Thackeray and Fadnavis Face Flak from Different Quarters
A day after peace deal brokered by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis between filmmaker Karan Johar and MNS Chief Raj Thackeray over the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, several army officials, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and actor Shabana Azmi has severely criticised the move on the part of Raj Thackeray and Fadnavis
Shabana Azmi said that the CM brokers deal n buys patriotism for 5 crores. She even targeted the CM for bowing down to MNS ’s demands despite Rajnath Singh's assurance to a filmmakers’ delegation that the film will be released without any violence in India.
Actor Naseeruddin Shah also said that it the only artistes who aim to spread the message of peace and love are being attacked.
After the reaction of the film fraternity , Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also lashed out Devendra Fadnavis’ role in mediating talks between the filmmakers and the MNS in ensuring the release of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ that features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. The Chief Minister termed the solution arrived as “extortionist” and accused BJP of ruining the country.
MNS chief Raj Thackeray has also faced flak from the Army officials over his conditions that filmmakers, who worked with Pakistani actors, have to comply with their demands to contribute of INR 5 crore to the army welfare fund.
Raj Thackeray had demanded that every producer- , be it Shah Rukh Khan or Karan Johar who has already worked with Pakistani artistes should pay INR. 5 crore to the army welfare fund as penance. The director of the film should hand over the cheque to Union Defence Minister, click a photo and show it to the people, he had said. After submitting the cheque, the producer and director have to reveal the amount they have donated to CM of Maharashtra and the MNS.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra CM has rejected the opposition charge that he has bowed down to the pressure of MNS. The CM rejected Opposition criticism that the government had shown its slackness by intervening in the matter.
After the Uri attack, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) had banned the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, as it starred Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. On 22nd October Thackeray said that the ban has been lifted since the Producers Guild has agreed not to work with Pakistani actors anymore and filmmakers who have cast Pakistani actors have also agreed to donate Rs 5 crore to army welfare fund.
