Finally, the filmmaker Karan Johar broke his silence and on the ban of films starring Pakistani actors. In an emotional video statement, the filmmaker pledged not to engage talent from the neighboring country and also appealed to the cause of his soon-to-be-released movie "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil".

While confronting calls by a section of people to block the film starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, he requested all to know one thing that over 300 Indian people were engaged in his crew and they have put their toll in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and look into their condition.

The 44-year-old director said he had been silent because of a deep sense of hurt and pain that a section of people believed he was anti-national. He said that when he shot his film in September-December last year, at that time the climate was completely different, even the circumstances were different. The Indian government had made efforts for peaceful relationships with Pakistan and he respected those efforts at that time.

Recently Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena MNS had threatened to vandalize cinemas that show Karan Johar's film if he does not drop Fawad Khan. The producers also requested the Mumbai police for protection when the film release on 29 October.

Around 450 cinema owner had decided not to screen films starring Pakistani actors following the Uri attack, where 19 soldiers were killed by terrorists from Pakistan. The group has their presence on single screen cinemas in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and Karnataka.

Following the ban on Pakistani actors , the Pakistani theater owners in retaliation decided not to release Indian Films in Pakistan.

The filmmaker said he respects the Indian army,  salutes them and he strongly condemns any form of terrorism and he loves and respects the country over and above anything.

After the statement of the director, the social media sites were agog with reactions. Most of them commented that the reaction came too late just near the release date of the film while others rued the fact that an artist had to bow down to the political pressure.

The entire entertainment industry in India has been divided on the issue of a complete ban on Pakistani artistes.
