Gurgaon Celebrates Jagannath Rath Yatra with fanfare
Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath carried out ISKCON Gurgaon devotees with much fanfare. The procession commenced from ISKCON Temple (under construction) site in Sector 45, Gurgaon (near D.P.S. School) at 12 pm and to be concluded at HUDA Gymkhana, Sector 29 (near Signature Tower)
“The chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar will the chief Guest on the occasion. This will be followed by a cultural program, an address by His Holiness Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaja, and Prasadam,” Achyut Hari Das, Vice President ISKCON Gurgaon.
“The special attractions of the festival was Hot Balloon Show, Flower Abhishek by a Drone, Offering of Chhappan Bhoga through a crane, Madhava’s Rock Band Kirtan (Mumbai), Rangoli Art Show, Gopi Dance and Sankirtan Music Festival. On the way of Rath Yatra, many stalls were constructed to serve the devotees participating in the procession,” said Vidur Priya Das President ISKCON Gurgaon.
“ Thousands of people participated on this divine occasion, get darshan of the Deities, pull Their chariot, seek Their blessings, and experienced the bliss on this most auspicious day,” added Das.
Rath Yatra, the festival of chariot, is celebrated every year at Puri. The presiding Deities of the main Temple, Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladeva and Goddess Subhadra, with the celestial wheel Sudarshana are taken out from the Temple precincts in an elaborate ritual procession on beautifully decorated chariots.
This festival has become a common sight in most major cities of the world since 1968 through the ISKCON movement. Our founder Acharya, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, successfully transplanted the festival, which now happens on an annual basis, in places all over the world in over 100 cities.
The devotees of Gurgaon have been celebrating this Festival of Chariot with great fanfare, vigour and enthusiasm for the last sixteen years. This year also there is tremendous excitement and exuberance to make the event a grand success.
